Compliance with UK Engineering Standards

Civil engineering structures must be designed in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements and recognised engineering standards. Where applicable, our designs follow the Eurocodes and their UK National Annexes, including BS EN 1992 for concrete structures and BS EN 1993 for steel structures.

Projects are also developed with reference to:

  • the Building Regulations 2010, where applicable
  • the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • relevant British Standards and specification requirements for structural design, materials and workmanship
  • site-specific requirements relating to ground conditions, drainage, external levels and existing infrastructure

For food manufacturing and temperature-controlled facilities, structural design may also need to consider durability, cleanability, maintenance access and the practical demands of a controlled operational environment.
