Full or part operational decant and relocation involves the controlled movement of staff, production activities, equipment or storage from one area of a facility to another location.
This may be necessary during refurbishment works, infrastructure upgrades or redevelopment projects where operational areas must be temporarily or permanently relocated in order to allow construction activities to proceed safely.

With almost 40 years of experience working in live operational facilities, we understand the challenges involved in relocating production lines, storage operations and workplace functions while maintaining continuity of operations.
Planning begins with a detailed review of the existing facility layout, operational requirements and programme constraints. This process considers available space, access routes, service connections, equipment relocation requirements and operational dependencies. Where necessary, temporary facilities or phased relocation strategies are developed to maintain productivity during construction works.
Operational decant planning must also address relevant UK regulatory requirements governing workplace safety and building use. This includes compliance with the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and relevant provisions within the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 where relocation occurs alongside construction activity.
These regulations require safe access routes, adequate welfare facilities, safe working environments and proper coordination between operational teams and contractors.
