Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems help industrial facilities generate on-site electricity and reduce long-term energy costs.

We work alongside specialist electrical and renewable energy partners. Together, we assess structural capacity, roof construction, electrical infrastructure and plant layouts before installation. This helps solar systems integrate safely with the existing building and site operations.

Successful solar projects require careful assessment. This includes structural loading, roof condition, access requirements, cable routes, inverter locations and connection to the site’s electrical infrastructure. These considerations are especially important on live industrial sites, where installation works must be planned around production, storage, distribution and maintenance activity.

Our team develops projects in line with relevant statutory requirements, applicable Building Regulations considerations and recognised electrical standards. These include BS 7671, the UK national standard for electrical installations. Where relevant, projects may also be aligned with recognised certification schemes such as MCS.

Where required, our team carries out structural assessments. These confirm that roof structures can safely support panel loads, wind uplift considerations, access provisions and ongoing maintenance requirements. For some schemes, planning and other statutory consents may also need to be considered depending on the form, scale and location of the installation.

We plan each system to reflect the operational profile of the facility, taking account of factors such as production schedules, electrical demand, equipment loads and future expansion. Where appropriate, solar generation can also integrate with battery storage systems to improve load management and support site energy resilience.

With almost 40 years of experience working in active industrial environments, Ambrey Baker understands how to coordinate solar installations safely and efficiently while limiting disruption to ongoing operations. Our role is to manage the construction, infrastructure and building coordination requirements so that clients can benefit from reliable on-site renewable energy generation with confidence.
